5 players on whom RCB could use the RTM Card in IPL 2022 Mega Auction

The Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) side played with a sense of vigor and purpose in the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL). The Virat Kohli-led outfit won 5 out of the 7 matches that they played in the tournament and were occupying 3rd place in the points table at the time of suspension of the 2021 edition of the IPL. Also ahead of the 2022 IPL edition, the mega auctions are slated to take place. And, the teams can retain a maximum of three players (or less) ahead of the mega auctions. Now, it is a no-brainer that the Bangalore side will surely retain their skipper Virat Kohli. And without any doubt, RCB will also retain the legendary AB de Villiers as well. There is also something called the Right to Match (RTM) Card that IPL franchises can use, and the RTM card will allow an IPL franchise to buy back a player who had previously offered his services for the franchise from the auction pool. With the Bangalore outfit sure to retain Kohli and de Villiers ahead of the 15th IPL edition, let us take a look at 5 players on whom the RCB side will use their Right to Match Card in the 2022 IPL auction. 5. Kyle Jamieson Kyle Jamieson. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Ahead of the 2021 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL), the RCB side splashed a massive sum of INR 15 Crores to procure the services of New Zealand paceman Kyle Jamieson. And, the tall Kiwi pacer did a good job for the RCB side with the ball in hand in the 14th IPL edition. In the 7 matches that Jamieson played for the ‘Men in Red’, he scalped 9 wickets and picked them up at an excellent strike rate of 16.00. Jamieson emerged as the 2nd highest wicket-taker for the Virat Kohli-led side with the ball in hand in the 2021 season of the IPL. With the 26-year-old doing a good job for RCB with the ball in hand, the Bangalore side will surely look to use their RTM card to procure the services of Jamieson in the mega auction. 4. Yuzvendra Chahal Yuzvendra Chahal. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Yuzvendra Chahal is only the third player after Virat Kohli and AB de Villiers to have played over 100 IPL matches for the RCB side. The leg spinner has featured in a whopping 105 matches for the RCB franchise and has scalped 125 wickets at an average of 23.03. In fact, Chahal is the only bowler to have picked up more than 100 wickets for RCB in IPL cricket. In the 2021 edition of the IPL, the leg spinner was not at his best and could scalp just 4 wickets at an average of 47.50. But then, Chahal is a proven performer with the white ball in hand and the RCB side will surely want to procure the services of the Indian spinner by using their RTM card in the IPL mega auctions. 3. Mohammed Siraj Mohammed Siraj. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) Mohammed Siraj is a bowler who runs in hard, hits the deck, and can sometimes even surprise the batsman with the extra bounce he can get off the surface. And, in the 2021 edition of the IPL, the right arm pacer was in decent form with the ball in hand. Siraj scalped 6 wickets in the 7 matches that he played in the 14th IPL edition and picked his wickets at an average of 31.83. His economy rate too was decent, as he gave away 7.34 runs per over. The 27-year-old has played 36 matches for the Virat Kohli-led side and has picked up 35 wickets at a strike rate of 20.90. And surely, Siraj is a bowler whom the RCB side will look to use their RTM on. 2. Devdutt Padikkal Devdutt Padikkal. Padikkal made his IPL debut in the year 2020 for the RCB side, and since then he has grown in stature. Padikkal scored 473 runs for the RCB side in the 2020 IPL season and scored his runs at an average of 31.53. Even in the 14th edition of the IPL, the left-hander was in excellent form. Padikkal amassed 195 runs in the 6 innings he played in IPL 2021 and scored his runs at an average of 39.00 and an excellent strike rate of 152.34. At the age of 20, Padikkal is an asset that the RCB side will not want to let go of. And, he is surely a candidate on whom the Bangalore side will use their RTM on. 1. Glenn Maxwell Glenn Maxwell. (Photo Source: IPL/BCCI) When Glenn Maxwell gets going, there is a sense of panic in the opposition camp. The right-hander is a player who can wreak havoc with the bat in hand. And surely, Maxwell proved to be the trump card for the RCB side in the 2021 edition of the IPL. The Australian batsman scored 223 runs in the 6 innings that he played in the 14th IPL edition, and scored his runs at an average of 37.16, and an excellent strike rate of 144.80. With Maxwell in such good form with the willow, there is absolutely no doubt that the Virat Kohli-led side would definitely use their RTM and get Maxwell back into the side ahead of the 15th IPL edition.
