5 players who can be the next Yuvraj Singh

On 10th June 2019, Yuvraj Singh decided to call quits on his 25 years long career. No one can forget his sacrifices contribution to Indian cricket. He was the one who leads India to victory in the 2011 World Cup, even after being diagnosed with cancer. He showed the world how to defeat cancer, and again make a comeback. His six sixes against Stuart Broad is still fresh in the minds of cricket fans. It needs no revision that there was and there will be only one Yuvraj Singh in the international cricket. However, he has been a role model for many of the younger players, who have always wished to be able to play like him. Luckily, the Indian cricket has found some of those youngsters, in whom one can find the replication of Yuvraj’s ability to hit sixes at will and smash bowlers around the park. The southpaw has been a hard-hitting batsman, who has the ability to single-handedly win you games on his day. He is a clear reflection of Yuvraj, who used to be unstoppable once he got going. He was even in the contention for being the part of the World Cup squad but narrowly missed it. The only thing that prevented him is his inconsistency. More often than not, he has got a start but failed to convert it into big scores. That hasn’t helped his cause, but the southpaw is undoubtedly the future of Indian cricket. (Photo Source: Getty Images) After an impressive outing in 2018 U-19 World Cup, where he scored 88 runs in 3 innings and picked up 6 wickets, Abhishek was picked up by Delhi Daredevils (now Capitals) for 55 lakhs. He returned it with stroke-filled 46 off 19 deliveries, and narrowly missed on from becoming the youngest to score a half-century in the tournament. He was traded to Sunrisers Hyderabad in the IPL 2019. But a lack of opportunities meant that the youngster had to warm the bench for most of the season. However, he is a 3-dimensional player, whose bowling and fielding are equally good as his batting. He has a bright future ahead, and with some hard work, he can become a good-all-rounder for the Indian team. Ishan Kishan Ishan Kishan. (Photo by Ashley Allen/Getty Images) Ishan Kishan has been one of the most promising youngsters, who has impressed in the IPL as well as domestic cricket. Known for his aggression, he first stole the limelight in IPL 2017, when he scored 277 runs in 11 games. This made him earn a contract with the Mumbai Indians in IPL 2018, who bought him at a whopping 6.2 crores. He did not disappoint and ended up with 275 runs to his name. Apart from the IPL, the 20-year-old has impressed in the Vijay Hazare trophy and India A matches as well. It won’t be a surprise if he gets an international call-up after the IPL as well. If he is able to carry forward his aggressive style of play with consistency, he might fall in the long-term plans for the team. Shivam Dube Shivam Dube. (Photo Source: Twitter) Shivam Dube had almost equalized Yuvraj’s record of six sixes in an over when he smashed Swapnil Singh for five consecutive sixes in a Ranji match against Baroda. Though that didn’t come against a bowler like Stuart Broad or at international, it gave a glimpse of the talent that he possesses. This made him earn a huge contract with Royal Challengers Bangalore. However, the 25-year-old failed to make a mark, scoring only 40 runs in four outings. However, he soon left that disappointment behind and did exceptionally well in the T20 Mumbai. Although Shivam still has a long way to go, his hard-hitting abilities are in no doubt. His medium-pace bowling is another huge plus, and one can expect him to only get better in the future. Nitish Rana Nitish Rana. (Photo Source: Twitter) Nitish Rana has now been a renowned face in the IPL and domestic cricket for quite some time now. He has been an integral part of the Kolkata Knight Riders team in the IPL, and the face of Delhi domestic team. He amassed 344 runs in the IPL 2019, at an average of 34.40 and a strike rate above 146. This is a perfect reflection of Yuvraj, who used to play with the same attacking approach. Apart from being a technically sound batsman, the 25-year-old has also been a handy part-time bowler, who has the ability to break partnerships. His wickets include the likes of AB de Villiers, Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Ajinkya Rahane. However, inconsistency has not helped his cause. Even in the IPL, he has often started his campaign on a perfect note and faded away in the latter half.
