International cricket has a flavour of its own. Irrespective of how interesting and dramatic IPL matches be, the passion involved in International games remains unmatched. While IPL divides the country in different parts, International cricket unites everyone.

Team India is finally resuming its top level cricket and it’s a moment of joy for all cricket fans. To add to this, it’s a series against Australia. India will be touring down under soon after the IPL ends. Australia have always been one of strongest and most competitive cricket teams across all formats.

The series will start off with the limited-overs leg. Due to some great performances in the ongoing IPL, a lot of players made a case for themselves. While most of them have been named in the limited-overs squad, few of them have surprisingly missed out.

Here’s the list of 5 players who deserved a chance in India’s limited-overs squad for Australia tour:

5. Ravichandran Ashwin

A tried and tested player in the past, Ravi Ashwin needs no introduction. He started off his career being a limited overs bowler and soon entered the Test team. Over the years, his Test bowling has improved by leaps and bounds while his limited-overs bowling started falling apart.

As a result, he was dropped from ODI and T20I squad following a dismal performance in the 2017 Champions Trophy. He was replaced by more attacking options like Yuzvendra Chahal and Kuldeep Yadav. The off spinner, in the last couple of years, has developed his bowling to suit the shorter formats as well.

He has had two good IPL seasons and would have definitely been in contention for a spot in the Australia limited-overs series. Ashwin comes in with a lot of experience and rumours were going around that his name was for sure going to be considered while selecting the squad. However, he will have to wait longer as he has still not been named in the team for either of the shorter formats.
