5 players who deserved at least one opportunity in IPL 2020
There have been players who have failed to get a single opportunity to showcase their skills in IPL 2020.
5) Virat Singh
The Sunrisers Hyderabad have stepped up their game in the final phase of the tournament. They have beaten the second and third-placed teams in their last two encounters. Still, their playoff chances are hanging by a thread as they have to beat a seemingly indomitable force, Mumbai Indians, to book a place in the IPL 2020 playoffs. Though it is not impossible, they will have to bring out their A-game against this Mumbai side.
It hasn’t been the best of seasons for the David Warner-led side, as they have been inconsistent throughout their sojourn. All their players except Rashid Khan have failed to maintain the same tempo for most of the season. And the ever-growing middle-order problems have been once again on display. Even though they tried a couple of youngsters to fill in that void, it didn’t go as per plans, and now they are back to square one. Surprisingly, they didn’t try out the most obvious option of Virat Singh.
The Jharkhand batsman has been scoring tons of runs in the domestic circuit. He has accumulated close to 700 runs while batting at No.3 in the last two seasons of the Syed-Mushtaq Ali Trophy. That’s why he should have been the team’s first-choice to resolve their middle-order problems. Unfortunately for him, the Hyderabad team has gone with Priyam Garg and Abdul Samad. And now with the business end of the tournament, he is unlikely to get a chance in this season, even if the team makes it to the final four.
