The 2018 IPL is the one that stamped the legacy of Chennai Super Kings in the League. Coming back from their two-year hiatus, the Yellow team enchanted the audience with their exquisite brand of cricket. They won games from improbable situations. And as a result, the MS Dhoni-led side lifted their third title, which will always be one of the defining moments of the franchise.

That year, CSK ruled the roost with their batting prowess on most occasions. Their bowling unit remained in the shadow of their batting unit. But the arrival of Lungi Ngidi halfway through the season changed that notion. Right from his debut game, the South African pacer bowled some fiery spells and immediately became Dhoni’s go-to bowler.

Ngidi picked up 11 wickets in his seven outings, that too, with an economy rate of 6. Those numbers are enough to prove that he played a crucial role in Chennai’s success. What’s more intriguing is that he won one of the prestigious silverware in a space of few games. However, since then, he has been part of Chennai’s playing XI in only four games. But still, he can be proud of himself as he has achieved something special in just 11 IPL ties.
