The tall right-handed fast bowler from Delhi is a vital cog in the Test setup of team India but has never been able to translate his abilities in the shortest format of the game. He has a reputation for being one of the IPL’s perennial underachievers. He failed to grasp the constantly changing dynamics of T20 cricket which led to his downfall in the shortest format of the game.

Ishant played for six franchises namely KKR, Deccan Chargers, Delhi Capitals, KXIP, SRH, and RPS. His most recent tenure was with the Delhi Capitals, where he only appeared in three games and took just a single wicket. In recent years, his role has typically been to bowl with the new ball and get some swing in the early overs. Because he tends to be expensive, teams avoid using him in the death.

Ishant’s fitness and agility have recently deteriorated. His bowling action appears to be lethargic, and he is unlikely to be picked in the mega auctions by any franchise. With his age working against him and his old-school bowling tactics, he may not be able to get a bid before the IPL 2022 season.
