He is the man who had put reverse to swing but his journey as the national sides coach has hit a major road block on the way. Waqar has been in the thick of things recently with his side placed 9th among the top 10 sides in the limited overs format. Abdul Razzaq had alleged Waqar of destroying senior players cricket carrier with “hidden agenda”. His former teammate Mohammed Yousuf slammed the current coach for his poor team management skills. Coaching a subcontinental side has never been easy, with a constant reminder of the challenge of getting qualified for the champions trophy 2017, Waqar will put his thinking cap on. As a coach, Waqar’s tenure so far has been filled with “hits and misses”. The team got the better of Australia during the Abu Dhabi series but surrendered during their world cup campaign. With the cricket calendar filled with an action packed season, it will be interesting to see how the “most unpredictable team” play out the events.
