From 2011, the trend of the hosting countries winning the World Cup has become a practice. In 2011, India hosted the tournament and won under the captaincy of MS Dhoni. In 2015, the mighty Aussies won while hosting the tournament along with New Zealand, and in 2019, hosts England won.

This is because of the home team’s exposure and knowledge of the conditions. The IPL grooming youngsters on the big stages, along with the exposure for a long period with experienced world-class players could aid them in their presence on the big stage.

The next edition is set to be staged in 2023 in India, which would definitely be an advantage for the home team. With the jinx still working, and with many more home series on the way, India could capitalise on the opportunities and could perform well under the new leader.
