Virat Kohli has been in a rusty form lately. He was handed over the captaincy in 2017 after MS Dhoni stepped down. Since then, Kohli has been captaining the ODI side till now. Kohli captained the side in major ICC ODI events – the 2017 Champions trophy, and the 2019 World Cup.

The team succumbed against Pakistan in the finals in 2017 and to New Zealand in the semi-finals in 2019. Kohli always had the pressure of not winning an ICC trophy even though having a good track record in other series victories. The adept batter started to feel the captaincy pressure and it started to reflect in his performance.

It has been two years since he hit his ODI century. Now with the captaincy pressure relieved, Kohli could strengthen up his batting skills and could come back stronger which could be a win-win situation for India in the upcoming World Cup.
