5 Reasons why selectors made a right choice by dropping Rishabh Pant
The selection panel has dropped some good players, and one of them is Rishabh Pant but there are some reasons which justify the action.
In India, everybody has an opinion of their own on trending topics, and especially, if it is about cricket every fan considers himself as an expert. A few days ago the Indian team for ICC World Cup 2019 was announced. As usual, people started looking at the negatives instead of positives right away. The Indian selectors had a tough time finalizing the squad for World Cup, as various players put up good performances in recent times.
From the last couple of years, the selectors have been behaving like a flock of sheep, as they have taken some decisions keeping their heads down and following a particular procedure. In the past, the administrators have shied away from making some bold moves, but this time the group has done justice to their roles. The 15 member squad of India has a perfect mix of youth and experience. The selection panel has dropped some good players, and one of them is Rishabh Pant but there are some reasons which justify the action.
The following reasons will explain why the selectors did the right thing by dropping Rishabh Pant
1) Less experience
The 50 over WC is the most sought event in the cricketing history, as the best players of the game will battle it out at the grandest stage of all. Most teams opt for experienced players for this tournament, and that’s why Indian selection panel has opted for Dinesh Karthik in place of Rishabh which is a good move. Karthik has played 91 ODIs, while Pant has represented the Men in Blue in the 50 over format for just 5 games.
In the past, The Tamil Nadu keeper-batsman has been a part of the team for ICC events, but the Delhi wonder boy has no experience of such magnitude. England is known for its seaming and swinging surfaces, and till now Pant has played all his ODI games in India so, it would have been quite difficult for him to adapt in such short amount of time. Apart from IPL and domestic events, Pant has never played an International multi-nation tournament where preparations against a team needs to be done accordingly.
