India is constantly producing some extraordinary talents, and for most of them, it is difficult to break into the current team, as it is already filled with superstars. Pant has been tested in the middle-order by the management on 5 occasions, but he has flattered to deceive in all games.

It is true that he didn’t play all his 5 ODIs in a stretch, but he has to consider that there are other players knocking the doors. On the contrary, Vijay Shankar who has made it to the WC squad has also received limited opportunities, but he accepted his chances gleefully and impressed everybody in a short span. Pant has failed to play an innings of substance in ODI cricket, and has thrown away his wicket in adverse manners. In all his matches the southpaw has got decent starts but has failed to convert them into big innings which is not a good sign, as he has been getting chances to represent India regularly.
