In WC ties there will be immense pressure on individuals, and sometimes players like Pant can bury under the cloud of expectations which is not favorable for the team. In such events, players need to stand up for the team and deliver the goods, but in his short ODI career, Pant has left his team-mates high and dry when the team needed him.

In the ODI leg against Australia earlier in the year, when the team needed to chase 270 in a series decider on a tricky Delhi wicket Pant managed only 16 runs. It was a golden opportunity for the local boy, as he had a lot of time to showcase his potential, but he was unable to handle the pressure. In ODIs, there are phases where batsmen need to soak up the pressure in order to take the team to safety, but Pant has no experience of playing such innings. It has been observed that in pressure situations the Delhi lad has always tried to play big shots which is not the correct option all the time.
