West Indies power-hitter Chris Gayle had hogged all the limelight in 2018 when he had accused Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team-management of mistreating him and disrespecting him for not retaining him for the 2018 edition of the T20 Extravaganza despite promising him retention earlier before.

“I was their biggest draw. It was disappointing in the end because they had called me. They wanted me in the team and I was told that I will be retained. But they never called back after that. So that gave me the impression that they didn’t want me and it’s fine.” Gayle was quoted as saying in 2018.

During the 2018 IPL auction, Gayle was picked by franchise Punjab Kings (formerly known as Kings XI Punjab) at his base price towards the end after he had gone unsold during the first round of auctions.
