Rohit Sharma was in sensational form during the 2019 WC in England as he slew bowlers on his way to five centuries in the tournament, the most in any single World Cup by a batter. But he was prolific off the pitch as well with his shrewd remarks in response to unconventional questions.

One such incident occurred when the Indian team squared off against the eventual winners England in the 2019 WC group clash. Rishabh Pant, who was not part of the squad initially, joined the team as a replacement for the injured Shikhar Dhawan.

In the post-match presser, when Rohit was quizzed about the team’s decision to send in the explosive southpaw at no.4 ahead of the in-form Hardik Pandya, the Indian opener, who scored a century in the game, was bemused by the question. The vice-captain silenced the reporters with his typical blunt response, “You all wanted Rishabh Pant to play right? Right from India – Where is Rishabh Pant, where is Rishabh Pant, There he is at number 4.”
