5 Times when WAGs of cricketers faced abuse on social media
Instances when WAGs were targeted on social media.
Social media has now become an integral part of almost every person’s life. The growth of these platforms has been humongous over the years. Cricket has transformed down the lane from being “Just a normal sport” to “A religion involving a plethora of emotions of the people”.
With cricket reaching its zenith along with social media, it has made fans express their contentment on these platforms instantly whenever their favorite player or team performs well. The other bitter side of this nectar is harsh.
Unethical people use these platforms as a tool to abuse and troll the sportspeople for their performance and the worst part of it is targeting their WAGs. Here, we are about to discuss some unacceptable instances caused by some virtue-less people to WAGS of cricketers through social media.
Instances when WAGs of Cricketers got abuses on social media
1. Daniel Christian and Jorgia Dunn:
Daniel Christian, the Australian all-rounder who has experience of playing various T20 leagues all over the world was added to RCB for a huge price tag of 4.80 crores in the 14th edition of the cash-rich tournament. He played a total of nine games and finished the season by scoring only 14 runs and grabbed just 4 wickets.
The Virat Kohli- led RCB team was hugely expected by their fans to win the title this year, at least for their leader’s last tenure as a captain, but their dreams got shattered when they lost against Kolkata Knight Riders in the Eliminator. Daniel did not justify his position in the team and went on to bowl an expensive spell.
This lead to the agitation of the so-called fans and they went on to abuse the cricketer as well as his pregnant wife Jorgia brutally in her Dm’s and Instagram posts. Christian and Jorgia expressed their grief by posting screenshots of the same and asked them to stop the nonsense. Some true fans apologized to the couple on behalf of the toxic netizens.
