In late 2004, wicketkeeper-batsman MS Dhoni, from Jharkhand rushed into the Indian team only to be run out without scoring on his debut but went on to become one of the best ever to grace the game. At the age of 37, he is absolutely fit, remains one of the quickest runners between wickets and has already bagged all the major trophies. Dhoni’s role in cricket can be called a perfect all-round effort as he created records with his batting, captaincy as well as keeping.

1. Treble in captaincy:

MS Dhoni has achieved a rare feat of leading his team to glory in all the three major ICC events – his team won the World T20 title (in 2007), the ODI World Cup (in 2011) and the Champions Trophy (in 2013). Thus, he became the first and only captain till date to will all these three major ICC tournaments.

He is also the only captain till date to lead his team in 50+ matches in each of the three International formats. Dhoni led India in 60 Test matches, 199 ODI matches and 72 T20I games. His 331 International caps and 72 T20I caps as a captain are the most for any player.
