Back in 2007, England fast bowler Stuart Broad didn’t have a whole lot of experience at the highest level. The speedster was a part of the national team in the T20 World Cup in  South Africa. But the tournament turned out to be a bit of a nightmare for him. During one of the games against India at the Kingsmead in Durban, Yuvraj Singh picked the bones out of him.

In that game, Yuvraj smashed a 12-ball half-century and also hit Broad for six sixes in an over. India won the game and Broad became the first bowler in T20Is to concede those many runs in a single over. However, the bowler has come a long way. It’s been 13 years since the game and the Nottingham-born has transformed himself into one of the best in the world.

Yuvraj lauds Stuart Broad

On Tuesday, July 28, Broad became the seventh bowler in Test cricket to reach the 500-wicket mark in the format. He accomplished the milestone in the third and final Test against the West Indies at the Old Trafford in Manchester. At the close of play on the third day, the seamer was stuck on 499 wickets after picking a couple of quick wickets at the fag end of the day.

In the meantime, Yuvraj didn’t forget to congratulate Broad on the milestone. The 38-year-old also requested the netizens to not troll Stuart over the match in Durban more than a decade ago. Rather, the former Indian all-rounder wants the netizens to appreciate him for the achievement.

The veteran took to Twitter and wrote, “I’m sure everytime I write something about @StuartBroad8, people relate to him getting hit for 6 sixes! Today I request all my fans to applaud what he has achieved! 500 test wickets is no joke-it takes hard work, dedication & determination. Broady you’re a legend! Hats off.”

Broad was pissed and disgusted after being left out for the opening Test at the Rose Bowl in Southampton. But he played the second and third Test and showed what he is capable of. In those two games, the 34-year-old managed to churn out 16 wickets. England won the series 2-1 after going 0-1 down in the series with the defeat in the opener.
