A stylish top-order batsman from Punjab, who was said to be the next Yuvraj Singh, according to some sources, was first snapped up by Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) in 2013 and made an unbeaten 43 off 26 balls on debut.

KXIP provided a major surprise during the new round of team-building by retaining the then little-known Punjab batsman before the start of IPL season seven. He was hired by the franchise as a player for the future and he made better use of his opportunities, scoring 324 runs in eight matches at an average of 40.  The 2014 season remains his best IPL season till date.

However, because of inconsistent performances, he was released by the franchise thereafter. Rajasthan Royals (RR) secured his services for IPL 2019 at a salary of INR 20 lakh and was retained for IPL 2020.

Manan was a member of the Under-19 World Cup-winning team led by Unmukt Chand.  He made his first-class debut for Punjab in 2011-12. However his performances have not been that consistent that could take notice of the selectors.

A good IPL 2020, if given a chance, could very much open the doors for the 27-year-old to represent the country.
