6 India U19 players to watch out for in IPL 2016

Indian Premier League (IPL) has emerged as a great platform for youngsters to showcase their talent and ability to handle pressure and come on top may what the situation be. The exploits have seen some unfamiliar names make it to national squads just on the back of a good show in the tournament and that has made an IPL contract an essential for all aspiring cricketers. U19 players too want to make it big. The seniors team is the ultimate goal for all of them. Here are six India U19 players to watch out for in IPL 2016. 1. Sarfaraz Khan (RCB): Sarfaraz Khan. The 18-year old was a part of the RCB squad, where he impressed one and all with his fearless batting. Not many would have expected a 17-year-old to face international bowlers but Sarfaraz not only faced those bowlers but also played them with relative ease and with sublime flair in the 2015 edition. Sarfaraz was just a 4th std student when the IPL kicked off in 2008 but now he is playing alongside the likes of AB de Villiers and Virat Kohli. (Photo Source: PTI) The costliest U19 player of this IPL, Rishabh Pant, who was bought for 1.9 crores, made headlines when he blasted 78 off 24 balls against Nepal in the U19 World Cup earlier this year. “I wanted to make the record for the fastest century,” he said after the match. Maybe he will have it in mind to get the record materialized in the IPL for the Delhi Daredevils. 3. Ishan Kishan (GL): Ishan Kishan. He is an impressive left-handed batsman and can make a name for himself at the grand stage of the IPL this season. Ishan was bought for Rs 35 lakh by Gujarat Lions in the IPL 2016 auction. The opening batsman idolizes are MS Dhoni and Adam Gilchrist. 4. Mahipal Lomror (DD): India U19 left-arm spinner Mahipal Lomror. Nicknamed the “Junior Chris Gayle” by Mumbai coach Chandrakant Pandit, he is a dangerous batsman and a reliable finisher as the first part of his first name “Mahi” suggests. He is also a very useful bowler with his left-arm spin bowling. To further his prospects of excelling in this IPL, he has the able assistance of none other than Rahul Dravid who is the Delhi Daredevils coach. In an interview, Lomror had said that he idolizes Adam Gilchrist and Daniel Vettori. 5. Khaleel Ahmed (DD): India U19 pacer Khaleel Ahmed. Khaleel hits the deck hard and has a very effective in-swinger that can cause some serious trouble for the batsmen. Delhi will be hoping that he proves himself to be a real ‘daredevil’ this IPL. 6. Armaan Jaffer (KXIP): (Photo Source: Cricket Country) The nephew of former Indian opener Wasim Jaffer, Armaan Jaffer has been frequently grabbing the headlines with his superb knocks. He slammed three consecutive double hundreds and scored 895 runs in 5 matches at an average of 223.75 in Cooch Behar Trophy. That’s when his talent and virtuosity was identified initially. Armaan was picked at his base price of 10 lakhs, but he will be hoping to prove that his worth with the bat.
