4th ODI between Sri Lanka and England at Lord’s was a must win for Sri Lanka who were 2-1 down in the 5 match series. England put Sri Lanka into bat. Tillakaratne Dilshan (71) and Kumar Sangakkara (112) put on a 172 run partnership. Captain Mathews (30) and useful contributions from Thirimanne and Senanayake took Sri Lanka to 300/9 at the end of their 50 overs.

England could not recover from their slow start and despite a couple of 40s from Gary Ballance and Joe Root; England looked like losing the match at 111/5 in 28th over. But then a brilliant counter attack from Ravi Bopara (51 from 47 balls) and a devastatingly explosive innings from English keeper Jos Buttler, who made 121 from 74 balls with 11 fours and 4 sixes. But some good bowling from Malinga who took 3 wickets at the death restricted England to 293/8 and won the match by 7 runs and kept the series alive at 2-2.
