The 3rd Test match in the Wisden Trophy between England and West Indies, played between 3rd and 7th August 2000, at Old Trafford, Manchester, saw the England wicketkeeper-batsman, Alec Stewart, playing in his 100th Test match, notched up 105 runs (186m, 153b, 13 fours) in the first innings. This helped his team to put up a total of 303 runs in response to 157 runs scored by West Indies and take a lead of 146 runs.

In the process, he was also a part of a fourth-wicket partnership with Marcus Trescothick (66) which realised 179 runs in 44.03 overs. This partnership was the best for any wicket in this encounter.
