7 players to watch out for in KPL 2015: The Karnataka Premier league is all set to begin in style from tomorrow. Despite being a local event of the Karnataka State Cricket Association (KSCA), the league has attracted a large number of eyeballs from all over India. The buzz around the cash rich venture is simply amazing. With the 2014 season being a major success the organizers are hoping for a bigger and better show in 2015. And to make that possible the 7 teams have some marquee stars who will be the centre of all attraction. Today we look at the 7 players you need to watch out for in KPL 2015. 1. Bharat Chipli (Bellary Tuskers) (source) Though he had an average last season scoring only 206 runs, his IPL experience will come in handy for the Tuskers. Bharat was a key player of the Deccan chargers in the starting years of IPL and was known for his sublime timing and performing well under pressure. The Tuskes haven’t gone for big names during the auction which puts that much more pressure on Bharat to perform. His primary goal would be to motivate the young boys not only with his on field shows, but helping them get accustomed to the big stage. 2. KL Rahul (Hubli Tigers) (source) The elegant and tall Rahul was the highest scorer in the last edition of the league. With 347 runs at a fabulous average of 69 he tried his best but Hubli couldn’t reach the semis. Coming off a successful tour off Sri Lanka helping India win after 22 long years, Rahul will be eager to stamp his authority on the shortest format as well. The naturally talented Rahul has always been looked upon as the next big thing in Indian cricket and will be expected to perform to his potential. 3. Karun Nair (Mangalore United) (source) The destructive batsman Nair scored 302 runs last season with an average of 60 and was the third highest run getter of the tournament. He scored a brilliant century off just 62 balls to help his team win a memorable encounter against the Bulls last year. That was only the third century in the 6 years of KPL. Nair has also been in good first class form and deservedly got an India call up after Vijay was injured in Sri Lanka. 4. Vinay Kumar (Belagavi Panthers) R Vinay Kumar. (Photo Source: ESPNcricinfo Ltd) The medium pacer picked up 7 wickets last year in 6 games at an average of 25. He was retained by the Panthers and will lead the side for a straight second season. He is a bowler in the Venkatesh Prasad mould – relying more on outswingers, legcutters and accuracy, than on outright pace. He was the highest wicket taker in the 2009-2010 domestic season and will look to use his experience of playing for the RCB to his advantage when he takes the field for the Panthers. 5. Robin Uthappa (Bijapur Bulls) (Source) The classy India batsman went for 3.4 lakhs to the Bijapur Bulls in the auction. He was one of the most sought after player before the big day and while the price might not truly reflect his ability, he is still a match winner. He was with the Bellary Tuskers last season and played just 3 games scoring 100 runs. The Bulls will be hoping for Robin to come good and take them to the doorsteps of the KPL trophy. 6. Manish Pandey (Mysuru Warriors) Pandey was retained by the Warriors as the skipper of the side. He did not have a very good last season as he could manage just 113 runs from 8 games at an average of 18.83. Pandey, who is a seasoned performer in the IPL will hope to do better this time round and justify the team’s faith in him. Being the defending champions the Mysuru team will be tough to conquer and Manish Pandey will be a vital cog in their campaign this time as well. 7. Stuart Binny (Namma Shivamogga) Stuart Binny. (© Getty Images) He was the most expensive buy of the KPL 2015 auctions as the new entrant in the league Namma Shivamogga went to all extents and bought him for a hefty sum of 5.50 lakhs. Binny has been a star for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL and with regular chances for the National team has taken his game to a new level. His allround skills will come in handy for the side. Known for his big hits, Binny can turn the match in a matter of few overs which makes him the one to watch out for. Entrusted with bowling upfront in the powerplays he has seldom disappointed.
