A fan asks if Jimmy Neesham can get the wicket of Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma in WTC final, he responds
Jimmy hasn't featured in a Test game for the Black Caps since March 2017.
New Zealand’s decorated all-rounder James Neesham is an entertaining character on and off the cricket field. The 30-year-old is a known face among the cricket enthusiasts on the social media and often grabs headlines with his wit and humour. On May 20, Thursday, Neesham again stole the thunder as he gave a sarcastic reply to a fan on social media that attracted the attention of the cricket fraternity.
New Zealand will be up against India in the final of the inaugural edition of the World Test Championship from June 18 to June 22 at Southampton. Before the WTC final, the Black Caps will lock horns against England in the two-match Test series, starting from June 2. For the same, New Zealand has named a 20-member Test squad, led by Kane Williamson.
Keeping in mind that India will lock horns against New Zealand in the WTC final, a fan questioned Jimmy Neesham if he can take the wicket of one between India’s skipper Virat Kohli and opening batsman Rohit Sharma. “Do you think you can get the wicket of @imVkohli or @ImRo45 in the #WTCFinal ?” a fan asked Neesham on Twitter.
The question asked by the fan caught the attention of the Kiwi all-rounder and he didn’t take much time in coming up with a sarcastic reply. The 30-year-old wrote that it’s highly unlikely that he will be able to send anyone from Virat Kohli or Rohit Sharma back to the pavilion. “I would say that’s very unlikely,” Jimmy replied.
Jimmy Neesham’s last outing in Tests came in March 2017
The strange reply from the all-rounder came as he isn’t a part of the 20-member squad announced by New Zealand for the Test fixtures. Neesham made his Test debut for New Zealand in 2014 against India. Thus far, the Kiwi cricketer has featured in just 12 matches in the purest format of the game.
In 12 Test fixtures, Neesham has scored 709 runs at an average of of 33.8 while he has also picked 14 wickets at an economy rate of 3.76 and an average of 48.2. However, Jimmy hasn’t featured in a Test game for the Black Caps since March 2017.
