Cricket is a religion in the subcontinent, mostly in India and Pakistan. Whenever fans get a chance to see or meet their favourite cricketers, they actually feel special. However, a Pakistan cricket fan felt terrified after he realized that he had interacted with fast bowler Haris Rauf who was advised home quarantine by Pakistan Cricket Board after a series of positive novel coronavirus tests. The board had advised the pacer to self-isolate for 10 days.

The Pakistan cricket fan, who shared a photo of himself with Haris Rauf, said he stood for a selfie in public space only to realize the fast bowler’s recent COVID-19 test results after reading up on the internet, according to Pakistani media. The Asian country will be playing England in the upcoming series.

A few of Pakistan players were tested positive for coronavirus in a mandatory checkup right before the tour. Rauf was also under quarantine after he was tested positive. However, it seems like he has breached the self-isolation rules. He was replaced by star pacer Mohammad Amir who left for England last week after clearing two successive COVID-19 tests.

The Board was under pressure: PCB CEO Wasim Khan

Shadab Khan, Mohammad Rizwan, Haris Rauf, Haider Ali, Fakhar Zaman, Wahab Riaz, Imran Khan, Mohammad Hafeez, Mohammad Hasnain and Kashif Bhatti were among those who were tested positive in the first round. A few players, later, cleared the second test and joined the team in England. Meanwhile, PCB CEO Wasim Khan said that Pakistan was under pressure when 10 of their players tested COVID-19 positive in the first round but they decided to go ahead with the tour.

“The Board was under pressure when so many players’ tests came positive. Thus sending the cricket team to England during the coronavirus pandemic was quite a tough decision,” PCB CEO Wasim Khan said, as quoted by News18.

“We kept to our plan to go ahead with the tour because we had in the first place decided to send the team to play our important part in the restoration of world cricket and to keep it on track, it is imperative to continue with matches.” He added.

Recently, England pacer Jofra Archer was fined and dropped from the 2nd Test against West Indies for breaching coronavirus bio-secure protocols.
