Aakash Chopra explains why Wriddhiman Saha received BCCI's central contract despite uncertain future
Saha has been given Grade C contract by the BCCI.
Former Indian player and cricket expert Aakash Chopra has explained why wicketkeeper-batter Wriddhiman Saha and veteran pacer Ishant Sharma were awarded a central contract by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) despite not being in the Indian squad.
BCCI had recently announced the central contracts for Indian players. It is to be noted that some senior players like Saha, Ishant, Ajinkya Rahane, and Cheteshwar Pujara were dropped for the Test series against Sri Lanka due to their poor form, but received yearly contracts from the board. While Ishant has a Grade B contract along with Pujara and Rahane, Saha has been handed a Grade C contract.

Chopra in a video shared on his YouTube channel pointed out that several fans might be surprised by seeing Saha and Ishant’s names in the list. He explained.
“Ishant Sharma and Wriddhiman Saha’s names are also there in BCCI’s central contracts. In fact, Ishant Sharma is at 3 crores. Are you wondering why? Why was Saha given a central contract when you have told him that you are not going to select him at all?” Chopra said.
