Aakash Chopra gets thrashed on Twitter after indirectly taking a dig at Dravid
The Delhi youngsters have been inconsistent in the tournament so far which have led to their ouster.
Without a doubt, Delhi Daredevils has been the most inconsistent side in IPL over the past 9 years and their fortunes haven’t changed even in the 10th edition of the tournament. They have shown in patches that what they are capable of but have failed to gel as a unit in crucial junctures of the game which has eventually led to their ouster from the tournament.
The squad comprises of some sensational young batsmen from India who has been nurtured by none other than the great Rahul Dravid. The young bunch have shown their class on a few occasions but have failed to maintain the consistency. For instance, a certain Rishabh Pant has looked ominous in a few matches and have bagged a nought on the very next occasion which hasn’t helped Delhi’s cause.
Shreyas Iyer who scored a match winning 96 against Gujarat in the previous game has also been inconsistent which led to former Indian opener and a current analyst Aakash Chopra questioning the tactics of Delhi Daredevils. Taking to his twitter handle, Aakash wrote “You get brilliance & inconsistency from youth. #DD rode on their brilliance but didn’t invest in experience to cover for their inconsistency,”
It was indirectly taking a dig at none other than Rahul Dravid who has always believed in giving young talents some exposure. Even in this tournament, Dravid stuck to the young bunch and despite them failing to make the playoffs, it will be a big learning curve for the youngsters. Seeing Aakash Chopra’s reaction, Twiteratti came out in support of Dravid and thrashed Aakash Chopra for his comments.
While one guy said that these comments shouldn’t be coming from someone who has hardly represented the national team in 10 matches, one guy commented that while criticising Delhi, he has forgotten that these young talents are the future of India.
Reactions of Twiteratti
Delhi is left with two more games in the tournament against Rising Pune Supergiant and Royal Challengers Bangalore and they will look to finish on a high and spoil the part of RPS.
