Aakash Chopra has a post-retirement plan for MS Dhoni
Dhoni led India for the 200th time in the ODIs on Tuesday.
MS Dhoni has been exceptional in his career so far as a wicket-keeper and the batsman while also leading the Indian team for almost 10 years. He also led the team the other day against Afghanistan and became only the third captain to lead his country in 200 ODIs. However, apart from his batting and wicket-keeping, Dhoni has specialised in taking the reviews and more often than not has a final say when it comes to challenging the on-field umpire’s decision.
The regular skipper Virat Kohli is always seen taking the advice from the veteran when it comes to taking the reviews and a similar incident took place in the ongoing Asia Cup as well. Imam-ul-Haq was hit on the pads off Yuzvendra Chahal and there was not a huge appeal from the bowler. But Dhoni insisted Rohit Sharma to go for the review stating that the ball was doing enough to hit the stumps.
The replays were shown on the big screen and he was spot on as the hawk-eye suggested that the ball would’ve crashed on to the leg-stump and Dhoni Review System once again worked wonders for India.
Chopra’s hilarious suggestion
In the ongoing game between Pakistan and Bangladesh, Mohammad Nawaz and Sarfraz Ahmed teamed up to take one of the worst reviews of the tournament. The ball had turned a lot and rapped Mohammad Mithun’s pads with the impact being on the leg-side. But the left-arm spinner somehow convinced his skipper to take the review and it was a very ordinary one in the end as even the impact almost out of the leg-stump.
It is not the first time that an international captain has struggled to take the review and even Virat Kohli has taken some poor reviews previously which is why Aakash Chopra wants all the captains to attend a coaching class of Dhoni after he retires. He hilariously suggested the legendary cricketer take up the coaching on when and how to take the DRS during the matches after he saw Pakistan waste one unnecessarily.
