Aaron Finch agrees for a two-year Surrey T20 deal
In 19 appearances for the South London club, the swashbuckling batsman has racked up 748 runs.
Aaron Finch, over the years, has carved a reputation for himself a destructive batsman, especially in the limited overs format. He has the ability to hit the long ball, which makes him a deadly prospect in white-ball cricket. The Australian has guided his team to victories on several occasions on the back of some brilliant knocks. He has also been in prime form in recent times. In Australia’s erstwhile tour of India, Finch scored 250 runs in 3 matches at an impressive average of 83.33. He also played a match-winning hand of 124 runs in Bengaluru.
His power-hitting prowess has earned him with spots in various T20 franchises. Recently, the Australian opening batsman has signed a two-year deal with Surrey. After his signing, Alex Stewart, the director of cricket in Surrey, expressed his joy to the media.
“Aaron is one of the leading T20 batsmen in the game,” he said. The former England wicket-keeper batsman also talked about Surrey’s opening stand, hailing it as one of the best in the business. “His opening partnership with Jason Roy is amongst the most destructive in world cricket,” Stewart added.
An impressive performer for Surrey
The Victorian batsman has been representing Surrey in T20s for the last two years. In 19 appearances for the South London club, the swashbuckling batsman has racked up 748 runs. He also played a superb knock of 114 off 64 balls in Surrey’s victorious campaign against Sussex in the same season. Australia’s next limited overs fixtures start from January against England after the 5-match Ashes series in Australia.
His career has been marred by injuries, but they haven’t been able to deter him. Finch has represented Australia in 85 ODIs and 33 T20Is and has tasted great success in the international circuit. Meanwhile, Surrey will be looking for another fruitful stint with the opener.
