Aaron Finch to go for scans after sustaining a hip injury in the first T20I against India
Aaron Finch looked in trouble as he struggled to run between the wickets in the first T20I.
India locked horns with Australia in the opening T20I and dominated the game by winning by 11 runs. While India was batting, Australian skipper Aaron Finch seemed to have suffered a hip injury while fielding, and it has landed him in some troubles. Finch is set for scans after suffering sustaining an injury in the glute area. He suffered the trauma while diving to save runs for his team and underwent an injury in the same manner as how David Warner suffered a right adductor strain.
Finch came to open the batting order for his side during Australia’s unlucky chase against India. During the same time, he was in some discomfort as he was continuously stretching out his injured muscle. He played quickfire innings of 35 runs but struggled to runs between the wickets. His scans would decide further development in the squad.
A bit of a hip or a glute or something like that: Aaron Finch
“A bit of a hip or a glute or something like that at the moment. We’ll wait and see, but it progressively got worse throughout the game. We’ll have a scan tomorrow and see how we go,” told Finch to Fox Cricket after the game.
Australia’s injury saga is giving them some horrific times. Star batsman David Warner first got ruled out of the white ball series owing to his groin injury. The side has also been hampered by the loss of Marcus Stoinis and Ashton Agar. Star pacer Mitchell Starch also had to warm the benches in the final ODI while he had a slight niggle, but he returned on time in the opening T20I against India. While batting first, India posted a fine total of 161 runs owing to the brilliance of Ravindra Jadeja and KL Rahul.
Due to Jadeja’s concussion case, Yuzvendra Chahal had to be fetched in by the Indian side as his replacement. And in a lucky turn of incidents, he completely turned tables for India as he scalped three significant wickets after conceding just 25 runs. India won the match and took the much-needed lead 1-0 in the series.
