The South African team though hasn’t been missing him if their performance is a parameter to make that statement worth but Mr. 360, AB de Villiers is certainly an integral part of the South African team and they have been eagerly waiting for his comeback for over 6 months now. Ahead of the limited-overs series at home against Sri Lanka it is reported that AB has fully recovered from the elbow injury and will be available for selection from the 3rd T20I against Sri Lanka and also the subsequent ODI series.
He missed the majority of action in 2016 and with the Champions Trophy around the horizon they would want their most destructive batsman to join the team as early as possible. Earlier this week reports suggested that the former Test skipper who announced his decision to step down as the captain of the team in mid-December is also contemplating the idea of retiring from the longest format of the game to elongate his limited-overs career since he has been struggling with injuries in the last few years and at almost 33 years of age wants to take the big decision as far as his career is concerned.
Proteas coach Russell Domingo had said, “We need to sit down with him and plan his future. AB has got to make that decision, I can’t decide on whether he plays or not. When I say that, I mean AB has got to make the decision about whether he is available and the selectors have got to make the decision whether he plays. He has obviously got to make some decision about his future in cricket.”
Faf du Plessis who took over the reins from AB said that they were not sure about what he is thinking about his future in Tests but they were looking forward to him rejoining the team in the shorter formats.

“I’m not sure how AB will feel in terms of Test cricket so we will have to see. We are excited to have him back in the one-day team. I am hoping he decides to play [Tests] for us. He is obviously a world-class batter and I, as a captain, would love to have him as a leader in our team, and obviously as a batter. He is a fantastic player.”
