After New Zealand, Cricket Australia unveils their retro ODI kit
Australia is scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting on 13th March 2020.
In cricket, the teams of different nations have got a different jersey from each other so that the teams playing on the ground can be differentiated. But recently countries have introduced their home and away jerseys like in recently concluded World Cup in England there were few teams that featured in two different kits during the tournament.
Some boards have started trying different uniforms for different formats for their players. But this time Australia and New Zealand cricket teams have come down with a unique way and will use their old jersey patterns in their upcoming ODI series.
‘Are you ready?’ – New Zealand asks Cricket Australia
Earlier, New Zealand Cricket had uploaded a picture of Martin Guptill featuring their jersey wearing the uniform from the late 90s. In the Instagram story, it was pretty evident that they were pointing towards Australia and wrote, “Is yours ready for March?” The shirt looks almost identical to the initial version of the uniform, which is dominated by large white fern.
In return, cricket Australia posted a revert to the Kiwis, with a retro jersey worn by their limited-overs skipper Aaron Finch. Recently CA had asked everyone in Australia to vote among eight cricket uniforms used earlier, their fans selected the retro jersey of World Cup 1999. This was the jersey that Steve Waugh-led Australian team wore during their 2nd World Cup triumph. Everyone knows that this uniform owns a special place in the hearts of their fans.
This old uniform has been modified a bit to give it a new look which is unlike the earlier used by the national team. The jersey consists of five shooting stars with the name of the sponsor kept in between for its broader look.
Australia is scheduled to play a three-match ODI series against New Zealand starting on 13th March 2020. These retro jerseys will be sported by both the teams in that series. Aussies’ upcoming assignment is a three-match T20I series against Sri Lanka which is scheduled to be played towards the end of October whereas New Zealand will host a five-match T20I series and two Tests for England starting in November.
