Ahead of India Test series, CSA postpones domestic matches due to Covid-19 scare
The CSA statement added that the competition is held outside the bio bubble environment with a new wave of Covid-19 prevalent in the country.
The Indian side is slated to face South Africa in a hugely awaited three-match Test series that is scheduled to commence on 26th December 2021 at the SuperSport Park in Centurion.
And now, ahead of India’s tour to the land of the Proteas, Cricket South Africa (CSA) has announced that all the domestic fifth-round matches of Division One and Two are postponed as a preventive measure against Covid-19. The statement added that the competition is held outside the bio bubble environment with a new wave of Covid-19 prevalent in the country.
“The decision to defer the fifth round of matches, which were scheduled to take place between December 16-19 (Division Two) and December 19-22 (Division One), was taken as a safeguarding measure in light of the competition being held outside of a bio-secure environment and amid the latest wave of the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Cricket South Africa (CSA) in a statement.
This is a golden opportunity for India to win in South Africa: Harbhajan Singh
Former Indian bowling legend Harbhajan Singh has opined that the upcoming tour presents a golden opportunity for India to emerge triumphant in South Africa. Adding that the South African side is not as strong as it used to be, ‘Bhajji’ reckoned that South Africa’s batting is ordinary.
“I believe this is India’s golden opportunity to win their first Test series in South Africa. If we look at their team, it is not as strong as it used to be. Even in the last tour, players like AB de Villiers and Faf du Plessis… those guys never allowed India to win there. Although India has played well there, they have never won a series and this is their best chance because their batting isn’t great,” said Harbhajan Singh while speaking on his YouTube channel.
