Risabh Pant has been fantastic for India in Test matches since making his debut last year. The youngster got his opportunity because the stand-in wicketkeeper Dinesh Karthik looked out of sorts in England. Before Karthik, India tried with Parthiv Patel in the Test series in South Africa. This wicketkeeper merry go round started only when India’s no.1 wicketkeeper-batsman Wriddhiman Saha was ruled out.

The Bengal cricketer has been nursing a shoulder injury for over a year, still, he is struggling to return to full fitness. The 34-year-old has been working hard in the NCA for months, under the trainers and physios. This long time out from the game is hurting Saha’s chances of making a comeback so he is seeking help to ensure complete recovery. According to Sportstar, former Indian wicketkeeper Ajay Ratra is helping the Bengal cricketer in regaining full match fitness.

The former Indian international is a coach in NCA. He confirmed that he is working with the Indian gloveman since Saturday and the training will continue till 10th February. According to reports, Ratra will be assessing Saha’s fitness while working with him on wicketkeeping drills like glovework, footwork, and diving skills.

Wriddhiman Saha out for a long time

Wriddhiman Saha had to go under the knife as he suffered a posterosuperior labral tear. The surgery was conducted last year in Manchester under the supervision of the BCCI medical team. Since then, it has been a very long road to recovery for the stumper. He has already lost his place in the Test squad and a slow recovery has the potential to worsen things for him.

This injury ruled him out of both Ranji Trophy and Vijay Hazare trophy, which has made it harder for him to come back. Earlier there were reports that former Indian selector and wicketkeeper Kiran More might help Saha. There were rumors that Saha was in favour of training under Vijay Yadav. The Indian wicketkeeper trashed these rumors on social media.
