Ajinkya Rahane is missing the best sister in the world on rakshabandhan
Rahane is currently in England with the rest of the Indian team for the ongoing tour against England.
There is no love greater than sibling love. Today, being ‘Rakshabandhan’, is the day people all over the country celebrate and cherish this special bond between a brother and his sister. Like many other doting brothers, vice-captain of the Indian cricket team, Ajinkya Rahane recently sent out a heartwarming wish for his sister on Twitter.
He is currently in England with the Team India for the ongoing tour against the home side. Having lost the first two Tests against the hosts, India bounced back in style in the third game at Trent Bridge as the visitors ended up winning the game by a handsome margin of 203 runs. The five-match series is now delicately poised at a tally of 2-1 in favour of England, with two more Tests to go.
Rahane’s heartwarming wish
Coming through as an affectionate brother, Ajinkya Rahane tweeted an adorable picture of himself along with his sister, Apurva. The cricketer also added a beautiful message in the post, expressing how much he misses her. Wishing his sister a ‘Happy Rakshabandhan’, Rahane wrote, “Today on Raksha Bandhan, I miss having my rakhi tied by you, just like every year. You are the best sister one could ask for! #HappyRakshaBandhan Apurva.”
On his career front, Rahane had been having a below average tour against England in the first two games, before he stepped on the gas pedal in the first innings of the third game. His gritty innings worth 81 runs was much appreciated by critics and fans alike. He ably stitched an all-important partnership with his skipper, Virat Kohli and ensured that the Indians were able to put up a huge total on the board.
Currently, the 30-year old has registered 158 runs in 6 innings in the ongoing series, at an average of 26.33. If India are to have a shot at winning the series, there’ll be an immense responsibility on Rahane to perform and consolidate the batting order.
