Ajinkya Rahane reveals what he does during tough times in life
He also revealed how he manages himself in the tough times, his reaction on being the second choice opener in ODIs and a lot more.
Ajinkya Rahane has been a seasonal man in Indian cricket team. While a batting mainstay in the whites, his opening slot in the coloured clothes is always uncertain. However, Rahane said that being the 12th man in limited-overs cricket, as he was during the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, doesn’t interfere with his ego. For the opener, any duty for the country is worth it.
Although he was the highest run-scorer in the recently concluded ODI series against West Indies, Rahane’s possibility of making it to the playing XI against Sri Lanka in the upcoming ODI series is again uncertain since Rohit Sharma, who was rested for the West Indies tour, is back to action. He also revealed how he manages himself in the tough times, and reacted on being the second choice opener in ODIs and a lot more.
“I always look to giving my best whenever I get my opportunity, whether it’s in the opening position or in the middle order. I don’t think about what is going to happen, what is happening. I always give my best at that particular moment. If the team management asks me to bat at a certain position, I am always ready for that. I’ve always maintained that whenever you are representing your country, number doesn’t matter. What matters is what you are contributing to the team and country,” he was quoted as saying on DNA.
Seeks help from the coaches
Rahane said he takes help from his coaches especially Pravin Amre who he trains with. “I generally practice with Pravin Amre sir when I am here and we are on the phone every day. I speak with Sanjay Bangar sir. He is there with us. They are really helpful and they always like to keep it simple. Whenever I feel I should share my things, I share with Amre sir or Sanjay bhai,” he said.
