Ajman T20 Cup 2022: Day 5- Round-up
Warriors have now lost three of their first four games.
Two contrasting matches were on display on Day 5 of the ongoing Ajman T20 Cup 2022. While Bengal Tigers walked away with a narrow four-wicket triumph against Deccan Gladiators, Ajman Heroes thrashed Northern Warriors by seven wickets to record their first win in the tournament. The Warriors have now lost three of their first four games and their chances of qualifying for the next stage are looking thin.
Meanwhile, the first contest of the day began with Bangla Tigers winning the toss and electing to bowl. Deccan Gladiators posted an impressive 174 for 7 in 20 overs through their skipper Adeel Malik’s breezy unbeaten 77 off 32 balls with seven boundaries and six sixers. However, the brilliant knock eventually went in vain.
Ali Khan gave a hard time to Deccan Gladiators bowlers
Bangla Tigers’ Ali Khan and Sagar Kalyan sparkled under the lights through spectacular half centuries to ensure a thrilling four-wicket win over Deccan Gladiators. “I had to play such a knock because the situation warranted that we score above eight runs an over. I backed myself and got those runs. We will try our best to reach the final and win it too since we have a good team to do that,” said Ali Khan after bagging the Player-of-the-Match award.
As far as the second game is concerned, Northern Warriors were bundled out for 127 while batting first at the Malek Cricket Stadium. Keshav Sharma was the wrecker-in-chief for Ajman Heroes, ripping apart Gladiators line-up with a four-wicket haul. Meanwhile, it was 31-run cameo from number-ten batter Haider Butt, which took the Warriors to a respectable-looking total.
In reply, the likes of Adnan Ul Mulk Nawab, Adnaan Khan and Khalid Shah played substantial knocks as the Heroes crossed the line in 13.1 overs, clinching the contest by three wickets.
