Alcohol allowance to be brought down to the minimum at the iconic Lords stadium

The iconic cricket stadium Lords will cut down its alcohol allowance on the ground after a recent incident that took place during the first test between England and South Africa. The announcement was made by the Marylebone Cricket Club, who owns the Lords stadium.
According to the current rule, fans are allowed to carry as much alcohol as they wish to, but that rule will be changed soon according to the club. Lord’s members may only be allowed to take up to two pints of beer into the grounds if it is under six per cent alcohol, or a single 75cl bottle of wine if it is between six and 18 per cent – the restrictions have been made similar to that of the Wimbledon.
MCC’s statement:
“Amounts of alcohol in excess of these limits… will be confiscated,” said the MCC. “Under no circumstances will any spectator be readmitted to Lord’s Ground at any time during the day if in possession of any alcohol.”
“MCC reserves the right to confiscate any quantity of alcohol from any spectator, leaving or entering Lord’s Ground.” added the MCC.
The committee kept itself away from commenting on the amplitude of the incident that took place during the first Test. The decision will also see champagne being banned from the stands, as the corks are considered to be a serious threat to the players fielding on the boundary.
The Test series between England and South Africa is currently levelled 1 each. While captain Joe Root marked his Test debut with a win in the first Test at Lords, South Africa bounced back strong in the second. The England batting order struggled against the Protea bowling attack which did not have Kagiso Rabada due to a ban. However, South Africa pulled off a mammoth 340 run victory over the Englishmen to make it one all in the series.
