All because of Pakistan’s loss: Sania Mirza and Veena Malik cross swords on Twitter
Sania was earlier also targetted by Pakistan fans for taking the players out the night before the game.
Ever since veteran Pakistan batting all-rounder Shoaib Malik got a golden duck in the match against India at Old Trafford, even his family has come under fire from the fans. First, it was Malik’s wife Sania Mirza who was also trolled for his horrific run in the tournament (two back to back ducks and eight runs from three matches). And now, Sania has been targeted by Pakistani actress Veena Malik and the issue is parenting.
Malik, 37, faced the flak all the more as the fans filmed him along with Sania and some other Pakistani players at a sheesha bar in London late into the night before the match day. Sania had slammed the fans saying it was equivalent to violating their privacy and especially when a child is also there. The Pakistan Cricket Board later clarified that the picture was taken on June 13 and not on the eve of the big clash.
Soon after, the second part of the controversy followed. Veena, who was worked in Bollywood in the past, expressed concern over Sania’s seven-month-old son Izhaan Mirza Malik being taken to the bar. In a tweet aimed at the Indian tennis star, Veena said she was worried with Izhaan and also advised against consuming junk food. She also took a dig at Sania over the consumption of junk food saying as a mother and athlete, she should have known it as well.
Not Pakistan team’s dietician, says Sania
Sania, who is known for her forthright views, hit back at the Pakistani actress at once. The former No.1 doubles player clarified saying she hadn’t taken her infant son to the sheesha place and nor she has the responsibility as the dietician of the Pakistan cricket team and advise them what to eat.
It seems the temperature has gone too high after Pakistan suffered to an 89-run loss to India. Malik, who is playing his final World Cup, has come under intense criticism, including from former cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Rameez Raja who mocked the experience factor.
Pakistan are now in a spot with just one win from five matches and will have to win all their remaining games to stay alive in the tournament.
