All-time best World Cup XI
The showpiece event from 1975 has seen greats lifting the coveted cup and performing their heart out for the country.
10) Muttiah Muralitharan
Muttiah Muralitharan is one of the greatest bowlers to have played the game, as he churned out match-winning performances with sheer consistency. The tweaker has played 5 World Cups in which he has dished out 68 wickets in 40 ties at an economy rate of 3.88. The off-spinner has taken four 4-fers in his career. Muralitharan was a nightmare for the batsmen even on good tracks and on helpful surfaces, he can run through sides.
The cricketer from Kandy played his first World Cup in 1996 where he picked up 7 wickets in 7 matches. He single-handedly dragged the island nation to the finals of 2007 edition, as he bagged 23 wickets in 10 games at an economy rate of 4.15. His best spell has to be the 4-wicket haul in the 2011 edition against New Zealand where he outfoxed quality top order batsmen. Murali was a game changer for the Lankans, and he also won the World Cup as a rookie in the 1996 edition.
