The former Australian skipper is a batsman of the higher order, and his captaincy skills are well-known among his counterparts. The right-hander has been part of 5 World Cups in which he has accumulated 1743 runs in 46 games at an average of 46. Ricky Ponting has stroked 5 tons and 6 half-centuries. He is one of the few players who has won the championship 3 times in his career.

Punter played his first World Cup in 1996 and had a mediocre tourney with 229 runs in 7 matches. The Tasmanian cricketer had a groundbreaking season in 2007 where he piled up 539 runs in 11 ties. Ponting’s unbeaten 140 against India in the final of 2003 edition is an innings full of eye-catching shots. He used to be a good tactician on the field, and that’s why he led the Kangaroos to the title in 2003 and 2007 making him one of the most successful captains in the history of the game.
