India is all set to tour Sri Lanka for a white ball series which will get underway from July 13. The squads have been announced and the relatively younger lot will be gearing up for best to have the desired results sans experienced members of the team. Shikhar Dhawan would be leading the squad while ace pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar has been named as his deputy.
Six players including Devdutt Padikkal, Krishnappa Gowtham, Ruturaj Gaikwad, Chetan Sakariya, Nitish Rana, and Varun Chakravarthy have received their maiden call ups. Chakravarthy got earlier too but couldn’t make it due to unfavourable circumstances. On the other hand, Ishan Porel, Sandeep Warrier, Sai Kishore, Arshdeep Singh, and Simarjeet Singh have been named as the net bowler.
Now, apart from Simarjeet Singh, all the four bowlers are quite familiar figures and have made a name for themselves in the Indian Premier League (IPL). However, Simrajeet is a new member in the team who would be up with senior members for the first time.

Singh is a 23-year-old right-arm pacer from Delhi who marked his debut in the professional world in 2018. His debut came against Saurashtra in September 2018 and has the credit of clinching 11 wickets at an economy rate of 5.65 in the last season of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Adding more to it, he turned out to be Delhi’s second highest (joint) wicket-taker this season.
Talking about his stint with Delhi, Simarjeet has been part of 10 first-class and 19 List-A and 15 T20 matches with 37, 19, and 18 wickets respectively to his name. Now, it becomes a case to see as to when the talented pacer of Delhi will be able to make a cut in the team.
The white ball series between India and Sri Lanka would commence on July 13, which will comprise of 3 ODIs and as many T20Is. It will be a thing to see how the B team of India would put up their show in the island nation. Young batters like Ruturaj Gaikwad and Devdutt Padikkal are being expected to make big on their debut tours.
