Ambati Rayudu, the veteran Indian cricketer, and his wife Chennupalli Vidya have been blessed with the baby girl on Sunday, July 12. Over the last year or so, the 34-year-old hasn’t had the best of times, especially after being left out before the 2019 World Cup in England and Wales. As far as him becoming a father is concerned, the news was shared by the Chennai Super Kings on Twitter.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise, for which the Guntur-born Rayudu has played for the last two seasons, shared a picture of the new-born baby. Rayudu and Vidya tied the knots way back on February 14, 2009, but the latter has maintained a low profile.

She has hardly been seen in the stands, both during the IPL matches or games for India. It was only once when she attended the final of an IPL and then posed with the trophy. After the recent development, a number of cricketers, including Suresh Raina wished him.

Raina took to Twitter and wrote, “Heartiest congratulations @RayuduAmbati & Vidya on the birth of your daughter. Such a blessing! Cherish each & every moment with the little one & wishing you all lots of love & happiness!”

Ambati Rayudu’s tough times

Rayudu made his debut for India back in 2013, but he has never managed to cement his place in the team. In the 2018 Asia Cup, he shone with the bat and was also considered as an answer to India’s long-standing problem of the number four position. But the selectors threw a massive surprise, leaving him out of the mega event last year, something which raised a lot of eyebrows.

Vijay Shankar was picked in his place. Even after a few of their players suffered injuries, he wasn’t called upon. On an immediate basis, he retired from all forms of cricket. But, he went on to make a comeback and played for Hyderabad in the Vijay Hazare Trophy and Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

He was retained by the CSK for the 2020 IPL. In 55 ODIs and six T20Is, Rayudu has 1,694 and 42 runs to go with three centuries and 10 half-centuries. He last donned the national jersey in India’s home ODIs against Australia back in March 2019.
