Delhi Daredevils (DD) leg-spinner Amit Mishra was reprimanded by the match referee for using inappropriate language during their 27-run win over Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in an Indian Premier League (IPL) contest here on Saturday.

“Mishra admitted to the level 1 offence (Article 2.1.4 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials) and accepted the sanction,” a statement from the IPL, read.

For Level 1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the match referee’s decision is final and binding.

Mishra played an important role in the 27 run win over KKR last night. The leg-spinner was bit expensive but chipped in at an important time in the game, finishing with figures of 1/36. The most eventful over bowled by him in the match was the 17th over of the match. The leg-spinner was cornered by the hard-hitting Andre Rusell for the entire over smashing him for 15 runs. However, the leggie took a  stinging catch off the last ball of his over to end Russell’s stay in the middle.

The DD side batted first in the rain-affected game and posted 186/8 with the help of fluent half-centuries from Karun Nair and Sam Billings. The start was horrendous for DD as they lost their top order in not time. But, the Nair-Billings pair then added 105 runs for the 4th wicket to save DD.

KKR, in reply, looked very incompetent against the disciplined bowling of the DD bowling attack led by their skipper Zaheer Khan. Barring, Robin Uthappa (72 from 52), none of the batsmen could make any significant contribution. KKR eventually were bundled out for 159, falling 27 runs short of the target.
