The bowling coach of the Indian Premier League (IPL) franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB), Andre McDonald is all set to receive a full-time contract from the franchise, according to a TOI report. McDonald featured for the franchise in the last season alongside current Indian bowling coach Bharat Arun.

As per the new rules of the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), no coach associated with the Indian team at any level is allowed to coach any other state or franchise and is bound to adhere to the rules. Hence, Arun had to leave his job at RCB. His exit has now seen McDonald getting a promotion and will be offered a full-time contract by the franchise.

There are also ongoing talks within the management to appoint Gary Kirsten as their batting coach although, Daniel Vettori will continue to be the head coach of the side. Also, Ashish Nehra will also be one of the backroom staff members and will perform the role of the mentor reports had suggested earlier.

BCCI’s new rules have claimed the jobs of many cricketers

The rule to not allow a contracted coach to render his services to any other team has already seen many coaches leaving their job at other teams.

Apart from Bharat Arun, coaches like Rahul Dravid, R Sridhar, Paras Mhambrey, Sanjay Bangar and few others gave up their job at IPL. Recently, KXIP also appointed Brad Hodge as their head coach after the exit of Bangar.

Meanwhile, the dates of the mega-auction for IPL 11 have also been confirmed. The auction is slated to take place on January 27 and 28 in Bangalore. It will be a two-day affair where hundreds of players will go under the hammer. The auction for the upcoming edition is set to get bigger than ever with each franchise getting a 20% hike in the salary cap.
