Anil Kumble thinks KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya will come back stronger from the Koffee with Karan controversy
"Yeah I mean obviously it's very disappointing."
The year 2019 didn’t start on a great note for KL Rahul and Hardik Pandya after they attended the show Koffee With Karan. They made some inappropriate comments and were severely bashed from every nook and corner of the country. The BCCI’s Supreme Court-appointed Committee of Administrators slapped them with an indefinite suspension, much to their agony.
Their participation in the upcoming World Cup also came under the clouds. Nevertheless, luck smiled on them as the ban on them was lifted and they made their comeback on the cricket pitch. In the meantime, Anil Kumble, the former Indian spin-bowler, said the incident was an unfortunate one. However, he mentioned that both the cricketers would make a strong comeback.
I think the other major issue is about educating the players
“Yeah I mean obviously it’s very disappointing to see what was spoken about & to hear what was said, I think, yes it was certainly very disappointing what happened, but I think these two players would have learned a lesson from all the things that happened around the talk show. They have been reprimanded and I am sure they will come back stronger.
So that’s a positive that they will come back stronger, but I think the other major issue is about educating the players and then knowing you know what is it, what kind of… you need some education and need some training,” Kumble was quoted as saying in Cricket Next.
Pandya was earlier called midway in the limited-overs series against New Zealand and he has already impressed with shows with both bat and ball. On the other hand, Rahul’s lean cricketing patch doesn’t seem to end as of now. He floundered in the unofficial ODI series against England Lions in home conditions. He is next scheduled to play the unofficial Test series against the same opposition.
