Another former Indian coach feels Anil Kumble did nothing wrong
“Different individuals have different ways of functioning," he said.
Indian fans were disheartened after the loss against Pakistan in the final of the Champions Trophy and then came the big new that, Indian team Head Coach Anil Kumble has resigned from his post on Tuesday. Kumble blamed Indian team skipper Virat Kohli for his resignation. In his post-resignation statement, he wrote that Virat was not happy with the style of his work and did not want him to continue as the coach of Indian team.
Former cricketer Anshuman Gaekwad, who coached India from 1997 to 1999, saw nothing wrong in what Kumble did. He said that he didn’t know what happened there, but if he has to make an opinion based on what has been reported in the media, he thinks Kumble has done nothing wrong.
Anshuman further added that as coach of the team he was bound to feel disappointed with the way they lost. He said that wins and losses are part of the game but Kumble must have been disappointed with the manner of the defeat against Pakistan.
Individual Feelings
“Different individuals have different ways of functioning. Someone else may have waited and talked later, but Kumble didn’t urge to do so,” added the former India opener said according to Mid-Day.
Indian team skipper Virat Kohli on his part said that “he respects Kumble’s decision and will not reveal any dressing room talks and does not want to talk about Kumble’s harsh allegations”.
Kumble’s Achievements
Kumble was appointed the Head Coach in 2016 after the World T20. Since then India have beat Windies in a Test series in West Indies and then had a remarkable home season by defeating strong sides like New Zealand, England and Australia. India is currently the No. 1 ranked Test side.
Kumble played a key role in guiding India into the final of the recently concluded ICC Champions Trophy 2017 in England and Wales.
Things were not smooth between Kumble and Kohli from the past few months which led to the fall out and this huge controversy.
