Anrich Nortje dominates leaderboard for fastest balls in IPL 2021

Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad locked horns with each other for the Match 33 of the Indian Premier League. After winning the toss, Hyderabad’s skipper Kane Williamson opted to bat first. The decision, however, did not go down too well for the team.

Delhi’s bowlers were impressive as they continued to scalp frequent wickets. Anrich Nortje, playing his first match of the IPL 2021, turned many heads with his incredible spell. It is known to all that the pacer can bowl with considerable speed and he took no time to display his flair.

In the very first over of the match, the Delhi Capitals speedster maintained good speed and looked in immense control. His speed in the first over of the match read: 148.2 kmph, 145 kmph, 147.5 kmph, 150.8 kmph, 151.2 kmph, and 147.1 kmph. Nortje’s commendable effort to hit the constant speed reaped him reward as he scalped the prized wicket of David Warner.

Nortje bowled a back-of-length delivery on the leg stump. Warner attempted to play it in the square leg region but the ball caught the top-edge and Axar Patel made no mistake to complete the catch and Warner walked back to the hut for a duck. The speedster now has bowled the top seven fastest balls of IPL 2021. The cricket on-lookers were impressed with Nortje’s spell as they heaped praises on the speedster.

Nortje further armed his talent better by striking with yet another wicket. Hyderabad’s middle order couldn’t contribute much and the pacer further added to their woes by clinching the wicket of Kedar Jadhav. He bowled a good length ball at the off-stump, which Jadhav looked to flick. However, he missed it and the ball hit the front pad.

The batter went upstairs but clearly, there was no bat involved and Nortje got his second wicket of the match as Hyderabad was reduced to 74/5. Talking about the positions of the team in the tournament, Delhi is comfortably placed at the second position on the points table. Hyderabad on the other hand is languishing at the bottom.
