'Anushka Sharma is blamed if Virat makes a zero' - Sania Mirza says wives are not distractions
Sania Mirza got married to the former Pakistan captain Shoaib Malik
Cricket is a gentlemen’s game, every nation’s board has got some set of rules that cricketers need to follow during their national tours. But sometimes it becomes difficult for the cricketers to cope with pressure and they need someone from their family to keep themselves calm as well as positive which can enhance their performances, but a few boards don’t feel the same.
For the recently concluded World Cup in England, quite a few boards like BCCI and PCB had made the rule that players are not allowed to travel with their wives during the mega event. Although BCCI had given a certain module of time to its players in which they were allowed to stay with their wives along with them.
Now, Sania Mirza the Indian Lawn Tennis star, who is married to Pakistan player Shoaib Malik featured in the Pakistan squad during the World Cup, has laid down her opinion over the ruthless behavior of the Indian cricket board. She feels that women can never be a distraction but can be the strength of the players.
Sania opines over the “No WAGs” rule of the board
During the India Economic Summit, Sania Mirza told that a player who is serving the nation needs their wives who can support them in difficult situations during the tournaments, “See the thing is that comes from a deeper problem which says that a woman is a distraction she cannot be a strength. They don’t come back to an empty room, they can go out and have dinner … when you have your wife or your partner there it gives you support, it gives you love.”
She feels that they need to tackle this issue to its root, “We address the problem that a woman can be a strength or is a strength rather than a distraction or a weakness we might conquer these issues.” And asked why there is a need to blame Anushka Sharma if Virat Kohli doesn’t perform it has nothing to do with it. “Anushka Sharma is blamed if Virat makes a zero, like what does that have anything to do with anything. It makes no sense.”
Mirza also praised the new fitness movement introduced by Prime Minister of India is the right step to follow that can bring everyone together and feels that India should encourage girls in the sports field putting out the examples of PV Sindhu, Saina Nehwal and Dipa Karmakar who have successfully guarded the respect of country on the international stage.
