Pakistan will face the Netherlands in a three match ODI series starting from August 16.
Pakistan is set to face the Netherlands in a three-match ODI series, with the first match slated to be played on August 16. Ahead of their departure to the Netherlands, skipper Babar Azam gave a savage reply to a reporter who questioned Pakistan players’ fitness and that star cricketers like Babar, Mohammad Rizwan, and pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi should limit to just two formats.
In response, Babar said that all the current Pakistani cricketers are fully fit, and he, along with other prominent players, is not thinking about sticking to just two formats of the game. Babar also asked the journalist if he thinks that Babar has gotten old.
If the load is more then we will increase our fitness levels: Babar Azam
“You, Rizwan, and Shaheen are the stars, pride of Pakistan cricket. Like we lost the second Test against Sri Lanka, kya aap ko nahi lagta ki workload aap logo pe zyada hai? (Don’t you think the players were depressed, the workload was more?) So won’t it be a good idea if you people play only two formats?” questioned the journalist.
“It depends on your fitness. Abhi jis tarha hamari fitness hai, abhi aisa socha nahi hai ki hum do format mein aa jaye. Aapko kya lagta hai main budha ho gaya hu? ya hum budhe ho gaye hai? (The kind of fitness that we have, I don’t think we should limit ourselves to two formats. Do you think I have become old?)” Babar replied. The journo also asked if the workload is more.
Babar replied, “I don’t think so. Agar load zyada hai toh us hisab se fitness badhayange hum (If the load is more then we will increase our fitness levels)
Talking about Babar’s performance in international cricket, the right-handed batter has been in impressive touch lately and will want to continue ahead. The Men in Green will take on India in their tournament opener of the 2022 Asia Cup.
