APL 2018: Rashid Khan responds to Erin Holland's request to take care of Ben Cutting
Erin Holland had congratulated Rashid Khan on his recent achievements and requested him to not bowl out boyfriend in the APL.
Rashid Khan will be representing the Kabul franchise in the upcoming Afghanistan Premier League‘s inaugural edition, which will kick-start in a couple of days. This tournament is expected to change and broaden the horizons of Afghan cricket, which has prospered quite brilliantly in the last five years.
The organizers have done a pretty good job to rope in a few of the biggest names in world cricket, one of them is Ben Cutting. Cutting’s girlfriend Erin Holland, who also is an anchor in various shows back in Australia, had congratulated Rashid Khan on his recent achievements and requested him to take care of her boyfriend during the T20 tournament.
Cutting, who will be donning the Nangarhar jersey, will be a big part of their squad alongside some other big names like Mushfiqur Rahim, Andre Russell, and Tamim Iqbal. Rashid had a witty reply to Erin, who promised that he would take care of Cutting on one condition that the Aussie will not sweep him.
Here’s the thread of the convo:
A great chapter for young Afghan cricketers
The organizers have managed to bring in some of the biggest names in world cricket like Chris Gayle, Andre Russell, Mushfiqur Rahim, Shahid Afridi, Brendon McCullum, Colin Munro, Thisara Perera and others. This will give a lot of exposure to the younger generation of Afghanistan cricket, who will be donning their national jersey in the times to come.
Inexperience cost them big time in the recently concluded Asia Cup, where they failed to win three very close games against Pakistan, Bangladesh and India respectively. The inception of T20 leagues managed to change the fate of so many countries and the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) will be hoping for something similar.
This is a huge tournament for the likes of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, Asghar Afghan, Mohammad Shahzad and the other senior Afghan players, who are desperate to prepare a competitive squad for the World Cup next year. With a few teams like Pakistan, Sri Lanka and West Indies not in the greatest of form, they will fancy their chances of making it to the knockout stages in England.
